Hastings pier being restored with steel

Wessex Galvanizers (part of the Wedge Group) is playing an important part in the ongoing restoration of the fire-stricken Hastings pier.

The company has provided its hot-dip galvanizing protection to over 250t of steel used to fabricate constituents of the new pier structure.

Over the past few years, Hastings Pier Charity has worked closely with designers, developers and construction companies on redevelopment plans to once again make it a popular attraction.

The work of Wessex Galvanizers, to help protect the steel against the elements is vital because the steel will be in constant contact with corrosive seawater and often stormy weather. Galvanizing will ensure the steel will last maintenance-free for many more years to come.
