For the record……

The Observer, in an article on 18th May 2014, says “Due to be completed in Spring 2015, work on the pier started in January this year.”.
What they probably meant was visible work on the pier started in January this year.  Unless of course, you happened to be out at low tide at 4 (or earlier) in the morning on many occasions last year, when you would have seen the dedicated Project Engineer and others at work.
Or later in the day seen the drone fly overhead, or even lent a hand with the barnacle scraping!
